Certification Alternative for Math and Science Teachers

Teachers hired in the Transition to Teaching program utilize the Alabama State Department of Education (SDE) Alternative Baccalaureate Route (ABC) to Certification. After teaching for three consecutive years in the Mobile County Public Schools, completing the coursework, and passing the two state-required examinations, ABC teachers become fully certified teachers in the State of Alabama.

How Do I Apply?
Apply to be a teacher in the Mobile County Public Schools by completing the statewide application.  Go to www.alsde.edu/TeachInAlabama to complete an application online.  You must also complete a packet of information including references and statements from your doctor. This application packet can be found by going back one page, look for HR Forms on the left and click. Then click to download the Certified Applicant Package on the top.  Download/print out this packet of forms and information and follow the instructions.

An applicant MUST be recommended by a principal to be hired as a teacher prior to admission to the ABC Program.
